Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

General Topic

How does a hair transplant work?

The hair around the back and sides of the head is genetically programmed to grow for life. A Hair Transplant is a simple redistribution of this permanent hair to the thin and balding areas of the scalp.

Why am I losing my hair?

Hair loss has a range of causes, and it is important to get an expert diagnosis in order to choose the right treatment for your specific condition. For example, Male Pattern Baldness is caused by a hormone called DHT (Dihydrotestosterone), which damages the hair follicles on the top of the head but doesn’t affect the hairs on the back and sides of the head. The same hormone causes female hair loss but in a different pattern. Other causes of hair loss include stress, scalp conditions, and some medications. Will the hair grow naturally?

It depends. For a Hair Transplant procedure, you will regrow your natural hair. For Micro Scalp Pigmentation (MSP), pigments are used to mimic real hair, giving you a shaved, low-cut look. To get better insights how these work, please take advantage of our FREE consultation.

What’s an MSP?

Micro Scalp Pigmentation (MSP) is another type of hair restoration procedure that uses layered pigments to give the illusion of real, shaved hair. This procedure is mostly undergone by people with extensive levels of baldness and hair loss.

How long does it take before I see results with an MSP?

It takes around four hours to complete an MSP session and you may require multiple sessions. However, the results are instant.

Will I have to shave my head for my Hair Transplant?

We will need to shave part of your head, the portion called the ‘donor area’, where follicles will be taken to implant in the bald patches.

How long does it take for the hair to grow after a Hair Transplant?

Regrowth is progressive and starts from approximately three months post-op. At the six-month stage, hair growth has been active for three months, and we would expect to see a good portion of the hair growing through. Nearly all the regrowth is achieved between 12 and 18 months.

Will the transplanted hair really grow for the rest of my life?

Yes. The hair follicles we transplant from the donor area are genetically programmed to grow for the rest of your life. This doesn’t change when we transplant the hairs to the bald or thinning area.

I’m thinking of going to Turkey for my Hair Transplant?

Yes.  Turkey has a lot of specialist Hair Transplant Clinics but have you considered the cost of travel and subsistence?  Surgery at our Lagos Clinic is a day’s procedure.  Furthermore we are experts in Afro hair and are available locally to monitor your after-care for 9-12 months after your procedure.

Consultation & Fee

Are consultations free?

Yes, all Vinci Hair Clinic consultations are free of charge.

How much does a Hair Transplant procedure cost?

Hair Transplant costs start from $2,500 but pricing may slightly vary depending on the level of hair loss, the amount of density required, and your expectations.

Why is it so expensive?

We understand that a Hair Transplant may not be the cheapest hair loss treatment. However, you should know that it is a permanent procedure and will be visible for the rest of your life. While cost is an important factor, the quality of the result should be your number one priority when choosing a hair restoration brand.

Can I pay in instalments?

Yes. We offer a flexible payment plan that allows you to pay in instalments prior to starting your procedure.

What can I expect when I attend a Vinci Hair consultation?

During the consultation, your Vinci specialist will evaluate your stage of hair loss. We will discuss your expectations with you and let you know what we can realistically achieve with the treatment options available to you.

Can I get my HMO (insurance) to pay for a hair restoration procedure?

Normally this is not covered but some HMOs might also consider any psychological disorder brought on by hair loss and provide cover accordingly. You will need to contact your HMO provider to confirm what’s covered.
